The Elms Transitional Living Center for Single Men

The Elms Transitional Living Center, a thirteen bedroom facility for single, homeless men, was opened in October 1991. The overall goal of the Elms is to enable the clients to develop the resources and skills necessary to live independently on a permanent basis. The program objectives for each client, within a six to twenty-four month period, are to successfully develop and complete a contractual action plan listing personal goals aimed at overcoming barriers to independent living. The action plan will utilize to the fullest extent community services and resources to accomplish these goals. The action plan will address general physical health, mental/emotional health, basic living skills, education, and employment training and acquisition of permanent housing. Each client is expected to contrite to the physical and overall atmosphere of the program and to successfully develop a cooperative living arrangement among all of the program residents.
